you need some understanding of mathematical systems. a system is defined as an operations boundary. the operations boundary contains statements as facts and rules/operations on these statements. a statement of fact is one that you may take as TRUE. so what is a true statement? if you are making your own knowledge system your True statements may come from your experience, education, beliefs, or supertstitions. whatever, after you have got your true statements you need to figure out your rules of work on these statements by which you can derive further statements which you never experienced or thought but since they are a result of your TRUE statements you may believe them: these are you theorems...

a friend tells me i dont listen well and i dont beleieve it but he proved me yesterday that i dont listen. why dont i take his word. i realize that the proof is necessary but may not be sufficient but lets get things in order before he has sufficient proofs

vladimir vostokov is a crash dump analyst and he believes after reading a book that General theory would have been discovered eventually and Einstein was to become redundant; and the 20-30 years that he spent on his idee fixe GUT was again something that brings his stature down; i dont know if vostokov realizes what he is saying here as to tell of a fact after he has been told and beleieving it the way he is asked to believe by the logic of a book. This generally happens to people who are suffring from what i call the confucian syndrome.
